Kranzberg is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Freising.

Geography

Kranzberg is located about 10 km west of Freising in Ampertal and in the Danube River Isar Hill Country.

The place is not identical with the eponymous district of Au in der Hallertau.

Districts are Ampertshausen, Branch, Mountain, Bernstorff, Dorfacker, Eberspoint, Giesenbach, Grandlmiltach, Gremertshausen, Griesbach, Haguenau, height mountain, Hohenbercha, Kranzberg, Kühnhausen, Neuhausen, Upper Bergshausen ( Forest Church ), Schönbichl, Sickenhausen, Thalhausen, Thurnberg, Viehhausen and Zinklmiltach.

History

By 1200, the officials under the " Chranichsberg " built the castle. The Kranzberg Castle until its destruction by Swedish troops 1632 official residence of the Duke of Bavaria District Court Kranzberg, the castle was never rebuilt. Nevertheless Kranzberg was until 1802 the seat of a Wittelsbach District Court. With the secularization of the neighboring Bishopric of Freising and its integration into the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1803 Kranzberg lost its importance. Freising became the seat of the district court. The 1666 re- built chapel of St. Pantaleon in 1807 canceled. Kranzberg 1818 in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, an independent political community.

Incorporations

As part of the municipal reform the formerly independent communities Hohenbercha and Thalhausen were incorporated on 1 July 1971. Parts of the territory of Tünzhausen and Wippenhausen were added on 1 January 1972. On July 1, followed in 1972 Gremertshausen.

Religions

For Catholic Pfarrverband Kranzberg include the parishes Kranzberg St. Quirin, Hohenbercha St. Margaret and St. Nicholas Wippenhausen.

Museums

  • The Bronze Age Museum Bavarian Kranzberg on the Pantaleon mountain is under construction and should be open in spring 2011. On special occasions, a tour of the existing collection is already possible.

  • Fischerwirts old Pfleghaus of the District Court. Baroque building with a distinctive corner bay.
  • Branch Church of St. Clement in Upper Bergshausen
  • Old prison; opposite the old District Court building (Fischer host ). Today " grocery store Rauschecker ". The old building was later set before a stem with a slightly stepped roof slope, in the ground floor now houses the sales area of the store.
  • Former Hitler Youth Home on the Pantaleon mountain. Great, time typical two - winged structure in place of the old castle with flags sanctuary (now the chapel being converted ). Building renovation in 2007 for public use.
  • Former castle (no visible above-ground remains). On the Pantaleon mountain stood until its destruction by the Swedes in 1632 a large castle which illustrates the former meaning wreath mountain as the seat of a district court. The stones of the ruins were later demolished for sovereign buildings ( Tournament House ) in Munich.

Prehistoric settlement

In the fall of 1998 by the amateur archaeologist Dr. Manfred Moosauer and Traudl Bach Maier were found in the area of a fortified Bronze Age settlement at Bernstorff a gold diadem and amber objects. Engraved pieces of amber show scorings in Mycenaean Linear B script and show as historical ties with the Mediterranean. The Gold Fund of Bernstorff is now owned by the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection.
