Kraubath an der Mur is a market town with 1281 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district or district of Leoben in the Austrian province of Styria.

Geography

Kraubath an der Mur Mur is located in the middle between the towns of Leoben and Knittelfeld.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Kraubath and Kraubathgraben.

History

In 1050 the village was first mentioned in documents as Chrowata. The name derives from once settled here Croats. In Kraubath it came in 1292 to the last battles of the Federal Landsberger against Duke Albrecht I, which ended with a victory of the Duke.

The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
