Krčedin

Krčedin (Cyrillic Крчедин; Hungarian: Kercsedin, German, obsolete: Krtschedin ) is a village in Srem in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, with 2,878 inhabitants. It belongs to Opština Inđija. In the village center is the Serbian Orthodox Church of the transfer of the relics of St. Nicholas from 1804.

Geography

Krčedin located about 35 km south of Novi Sad on the right bank of the Danube; the settlement does not border directly on the river. However, some country houses overlook outside the actual village in the northern part of the district of the river.

Ethnic Serbs are the majority in Krčedin, but there is also a larger minority of Roma who live in the district focuses Salajka.

In one of these cottages, the police in Novi Sad took place on 20 March 2003 5.4 kg heroin of the so-called Zemun clan.

The economy is agrarian in nature, although the residents are increasingly working in the surrounding towns.

The highway from Novi Sad to Belgrade ( European Route 75), which runs west of the village, has an exit for Krčedin and 3 km away neighboring village Beška.
