Krødsherad

Krødsherad is a municipality in Buskerud Fylke in Norway, covering the southern part of the inland lake Krøderen at the conclusion of Hallingdal. It borders the municipalities Ringerike, Flå, Sigdal and Modum. The municipality is located about ten kilometers south of Oslo. Most inhabitants live in small towns and Krøderen Noresund.

The municipality referred to together with the neighboring communities Modum and Sigdal as Kunstnerdalen. Thus, the nature Krødherads attracted many artists of the turn of the century, such as the writer Oddmund Hagen and the painter Anders Kjær and Kristin Lindberg. There is also a rich tradition of folk music in the community, with Truls Ørpen (1880-1958) was the most well known.

Krødsherad has three church buildings. The Mount of Olives kirke dating back to 1859 located in the center of Noresund. It replaced the old stave church. Add to this the kapell Glesne (1909 ) and the Veikåker kapell (1934 ) in Krøderen.

Krødsherad is connected since 1872 by the Krøderbanen to the railway network.
