Kreien

Crays is a municipality in the east of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Eldenburg Lübz with headquarters in the city Lübz.

Geography and transport

The community is located approximately six kilometers south of Lübz, in the lowlands east of the Müritz -Elde - Waterway and north of Gehlsbachs. The stream valley is a nature reserve. North of the valley is the forest area Wilsener firs. The highest point in the municipality is the Black Mountain with 89.3 m above sea level. NHN Kreiener in the forest fir trees in the northwest of the community. To the north is the forest area Kreiener wood. Only significant lake is the Dorfsee at Crays.

History

The territory was inhabited in the Neolithic period, as is evident from archaeological finds.

Crays was first documented in 1271. The place name comes from the Old Slavic Region of the country and it means a rural location.

Wilsen was first mentioned in documents as Wilssne 1293. The place name probably comes from the old Slavic VLUG for damp off and so is humid place.
