Creams Neuhofen an der Krems

Creams is around 60 kilometers long tributary of the River Traun in Upper Austria.

It rises at the foot of Kremsmauer in Michelsdorf flows in Traun quarter northward through the Upper Austrian Alpine foothills and flows south of Linz, close to the Ebelsberg, in the Traun River.

Flood of the Century 2002

In the hundred-year flood of 2002 came in the area of ​​Krems causes major damage.

Between Neuhofen and Nöstlbach the Krems burst its banks which led to that large parts were flooded by Nöstlbach. As a result of the damage, extensive flood control measures were taken. Between Neuhofen and the confluence with the River Traun some area were widened again and renatured. Furthermore, two old bridges were demolished and replaced by higher bridges to eliminate bottlenecks. In planning is also a retention basin in the area Wartberg with a land requirement of about 100 ha, which is to hold back up to 2.6 million cubic meters of water.
