Kreypau is a district of the town Leuna in Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ).

History

Kreypau was a small farming village whose population is mainly nourished in the past centuries of agriculture.

The church was built in 1550/51, the tower already in 1530; Remains of the Romanesque previous building are available. Another church is located in Wölkau.

1870, the hall was straightened at Kreypau, the former river loop encloses a small floodplain.

In 1871 was in Kreypau, as in many other German cities and towns after the Franco-German War, planted a so-called " peace Oak ". On 3 October 1990, the day of German reunification, oaks were planted in the neighboring villages also.

From 2006 to 2009 Kreypau belonged to the administrative community Leuna Kötzschau. Until December 30, 2009 Kreypau was an independent municipality with the associated hamlets Kreypau, Wüsteneutzsch and Wölkau; to 2003 was also Trebnitzgrund, now the district of Merseburg, do so. Last mayor was Peter Engel. On 31 December 2009 Kreypau was incorporated into the city Leuna.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "In four gold green oak leaves in quatrefoil, including a green acorn fallen.
