Kriegsheim

Kriegsheim is a commune with 708 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It is located in Canton Brumath and belongs to Arrondissement Strasbourg- Campagne in the department of Bas- Rhin.

Geography

Kriegsheim located 20 km north of Strasbourg and 5 km southwest of Haguenau in the landscape Collines de Brumath on the edge of the Upper Rhine Plain. The Lohgraben, a 11 km long tributary of the Moder, rises in war home.

Kriegsheim borders Niederschaeffolsheim in the north, Wide breaking in the east, the south and Brumath Rottelsheim in the West.

History

Prove the Merovingian Period grave finds show that the area was already inhabited in the 5th to 8th century.

Was mentioned in documents for the first time the village of 823 in an exchange between Count Erchangar and Bernold, Bishop of Strasbourg. 953 received the monastery of Lorsch by an act of the Emperor Otto I. goods in war home.

Kriegsheim was one of the 28 villages whose estate was divided in 1236 between the diocese of Strasbourg and the Old Kingdom.

After the accession of the Habsburgs in 1272 war Heimreich village was and came to the bailiwick of Haguenau. The village belonged until 1789 to the office of mayor Batzendorf.

1460 was half of the village to the Thomas chapter of Strasbourg. 1625 was Georg Dietrich von cheeks the other half to the French Revolution.

On November 21, 1959 received Kriegsheim Charles de Gaulle, the first President of the Fifth French Republic.

Attractions

The church of Saint Ulrich is equipped with a modern organ from 1977/1978, which replaced one built in 1861 by Martin Wetzel organ. Only the original prospectus is still preserved.

Infrastructure

Kriegsheim is developed by the Department of Road D263. It combines Kriegsheim with Haguenau and the cantonal capital Brumath, where connection is made to the Autoroute A4, which coincides here with the European route 25.
