Kristian Hammer

Kristian Hammer ( born March 20, 1976 in Narvik ) is a Norwegian nordic combined.

Career

Hammer celebrated his first success with the third rank in the context of B- World Cup on 11 December 1994 Vuokatti. On 14 January 1995 he gave his debut in Liberec in the context of the World Cup Nordic Combined. With a ranking of 11, he was able to win his first World Cup points on straight away. In the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1995 in Gällivare, he was part of the team at the team competition and won together with Jacob Gunne and Jermund Lunder the bronze medal. Once again he won points in January 1996 at the World Cup in Liberec, he competed in the Junior Nordic World Ski Championships 1996 in Asiago, winning together with Sverre Rotevatn and Preben Fjære Brynemo the gold medal.

After the success in Asiago Hammer moved firmly into the World Cup squad. In Murau he reached it in ninth place for the first time a top 10 place. In January 1997, in Val di Fiemme for the first time he managed to jump on the podium and he finished the race in third place. In the Norwegian Championships in Mo i Rana Bjarte Engen Vik saw him win the silver medal in singles.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano in 1998 launched the now 22 -year-old hammer in singles and reached this rank 26 Shortly thereafter, he again won at the Norwegian Championships 1998 in Trondheim silver.

In December 1999, Hammer was in B- World Cup a total of four competitions in Taivalkoski and in Val di Fiemme. In February 2000, he won in Sapporo for the first time a World Cup race. Shortly after the World Cup he won at the Norwegian Championships 2001 in Trondheim for the third time silver. At the end of the season, which he finished in fourth place overall and third in the sprint World Cup overall standings, he celebrated his fourth and last single World Cup win in Sapporo.

In the 2001/ 02 season, he raced successfully as in the previous year with two ranks third in Kuopio, but could not achieve top 10 rankings in the individual more shortly after the season starts. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City Hammer was again without a medal. After eighth in singles and ranked 20 in the sprint, the team finished fifth remained despite Favorites role as a world champion team without success. After the Olympics, Hammer was able to increase its performance again and stood at the Summer Grand Prix in Klingenthal in second on the podium again. In the Norwegian Championships in 2003 in Lillehammer Hammer won his first two and last two national titles in singles and Sprint.

Also in the summer of 2003, Hammer was once again jump on the podium in Winterberg. From the 2003/04 season he missed the World Cup competition, the top 10 ranks significantly. It was not until the 2004/05 season he managed the opening event in Kuusamo jump back in fifth place in the top. In Liberec succeeded him in January 2005 as the second after a long time a podium finish. Shortly thereafter, he started at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf. There he won together with Petter Tande, Håvard Klementsen and Magnus Moan the title in the team competition. In the World Cup, however, managed to hammer in the wake no more victory. The return to the world top did not succeed. The reason for this were health problems. For the season 2006/ 07 he became head coach of the Norwegian B- National and took 1 May 2007 the post of cross-country assistant coach of the senior national team. On September 1, 2009, he announced his retirement from coaching positions known in order to devote more time to his family.

Hammer is married and now lives in Raholt.
