Kristiina Ojuland

Kristiina Ojuland ( born December 17, 1966 in Kohtla -Järve ) is an Estonian politician. She was the first woman Foreign Minister of the Republic of Estonia.

Early years

Kristiina Ojuland laid in 1985, the high school in Jõhvi from. She studied until 1990 Law at the University of Tartu and the Estonian School of Diplomacy in Tallinn. 1990 to 1992 she has been a lecturer at the Estonian Ministry of Justice, 1992/93 in the Estonian Foreign Ministry and 1993/ 94 on the Estonian Mission to the Euro Europe.

Politician

1994 to 2002 and since 2005 she is a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ), including as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. She was from January 2002 to February 2005 Estonian Foreign Minister. In June 2004, she ran unsuccessfully for the post of Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Ojuland belonged since 1995 to the Reform Party ( Reformierakond ). On June 5, 2013, the Board of the Reform Party, Ojuland excluded because of party -destructive behavior from the party decided. Ojuland was accused of manipulating an internal party election.
