Kristin Linklater

Kristin Linklater ( born April 22, 1936 in Orkney ) is a Scottish vocal coach, actress and director.

Life

Linklater was trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. In 1978 she was co-founder of Shakespeare & Company. Linklater was until 1997 a professor of theater and director of the drama training at Emerson College in Boston. Since September, she has been Professor of Voice and text at the Columbia University School of the Arts Graduate Theatre Program, NYC

Linklater is the author of Freeing the Natural Voice, which was translated into German by Thea M. Mertz 1997: Developing the personal voice. Since the 90s, the voice training by Linklater is amplified also taught in Europe.

She is the daughter of writer Eric Linklater and mother of actor Hamish Linklater.
