Krogaspe

Krogaspe is a municipality on the Ancient Road in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Krogaspe lies directly north-west of Neumünster at the Federal Highway 7 and the former state highway 205 to Rendsburg. The motorway exit Neumünster -Nord and the motorway station Krogaspe with highway maintenance and highway police are in the municipal area.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1200. The place name probably means remote village in aspen angle. An aspen is aspen. The determination part " Krog " indicates that it was originally a secluded piece of land - has acted - Low German " Krog, Kroch, Krooch " etc.. Both parts of the name, which refer to the location of the place and its trees with respect, suggests that there is a high medieval, then something outlying settlement surrounded by aspens in Krogaspe.

The municipality is situated on the old military and trade route, the Ox Road (now Ossenweg Low German ). Thousands of steers were annually driven by Schleswig -Holstein to the south to the Elbe on this important Viehtrift.

The Schleswig -Holstein Infantry Regiment No. 163 from Neumünster held its target practice here.
