The historical development of the " Kronplatz "

For a long time there was a desire to bring closer the Kronplatz the Brune thickeners. Planning a cable car was first concretely operated before the First World War. However, this project could not be realized because of the war and the subsequent bad times. On 19 January 1938 it was again so far: At the meeting of the Board of " funivia Dolomiti Monte Corona AG " was reported on the formation and registration in court. The commissioned project for the construction of a cable car failed because of difficulties in obtaining financing loan of one million lire. In 1939, at a plenary meeting of the joint-stock company, which is focused primarily on the dissolution of the company, decided to continue them for at least a year. In November of the same year, however, the towel was finally cast, and the cable car company dissolved.

When was Willy Kofler, then President of the Brunecker Tourist Office, the driving force for the development of the Kronplatz by a cable car in the 1950s, it failed again at the lack of support of those circles that would have the necessary capital. Success was only an attempt Ernst fan and a group of citizens summoned Brunecker that has picked up the Seilbahnbau again late '50s and launched.

1960 the " Kronplatz Seilbahngenossenschaft m. b. H. "was founded. The cooperative capital amounted to 550,000 lire.

In 1961 it was converted from a mutual to a stock company, with the wording " Plan de Corones cable car Brunico AG ". The capital was 1 million lire. As on September 27, 1961 " Brothers Reichegger " from Campo Tures an initial deposit for the construction of a ropeway was issued to the construction company, it was with the actual cable car project is still problematical, since it would have cost 283 million lire. In addition, the project received the green light from the Roman Department of Transportation due to low capacity. You had to look elsewhere. Subsequently, several companies were invited to submit an offer. Finally, the company Ceretti & Tanfani was awarded the 1962 Award, the required 137 million lire for the construction of the cable car.

At the beginning there were great difficulties, since for the time being only 38 per cent of the subscribed share capital (100 million lire ) had been paid. However, " Mediocredito " of Trent secured a loan of 180 million lire. In addition, the savings bank Brunico presented provides a transfer credit of 40 million.

In the early summer of 1963 began with the construction of the first ski lift "Belvedere". Despite various difficulties, the cable car and the Belvedere ski lift during the Christmas season 1963 could be put into operation. Thus, the most important first step was completed and the development of Brunecker local mountain for winter sports initiated concrete. However, it required a constant investment policy and much perseverance in economically critical times until the Kronplatz was to what it is today.

In the first winter of skiing revenues were disappointing. The obligations could meet only by taking out a loan of 125 million lire. As 1964 was the financial collapse of the AG formally in the air, they turned to North Tyrol and received a loan of 5,000,000 ATS. The uncompromising vouch for an idea had left such a good impression on the political leaders in North Tyrol that further aid followed.

The year 1967 brought the planning of the " sun lift ", and in the same year, the completion of the hill station with restaurant was envisaged. From the winter 1970/71 already the 5.4 km long could "New Year's exit" be traveled. The finishing works at the mountain station and the construction of the restaurant could only be completed in 1974.

A rain winter experienced the Kronplatz already in the later 60s. The ski lifts " Belvedere ", " Ochsenalm ", " Korer ", " Marchner " and " Furkel " and " Alps" were in operation. The Kronplatz became the whiz under the ski resorts of Italy.

In 1973, the ski area was so well known that the lifts could hardly cope with the rush. How should a new lift system of Reischach bring out relief and so 1973 was the construction of the " Herrnegg chair lift " and " Pramstall - surface lift " decided.

Mid-70s, the financial situation had relaxed and it was after 13 years even for the first time a dividend is paid. It was now determined on the potentiation of existing equipment or the substitution thereof by more modern equipment. Among other modifications, it was decided also to replace the cable car by a modern orbit. It was a new development, ie. Around the construction of two successive orbits can be coupled It was possible to schedule both webs ( Kronplatz I and II ) at the beginning of winter 1986/87 to put into operation. The facility was at the start of the most powerful in the world ( 2,250 persons per hour). Due to the increased transport capacity was inevitable, a larger crowd of skiers. The parking at the base station no longer sufficient, so you had to provide additional parking spaces.

In 2000, the ski lift was taken " Kronplatz 2000" operation, which runs parallel to the orbit. The " Herrnegg - chair " was torn down. 2003 " Kronplatz I and II" was replaced by a modern 8-person gondola. With the two orbits 3,950 people per hour can be transported to the Kronplatz.

Scope

The Kronplatz ski area has 114 km of prepared pistes at altitudes 1000-2275 meters, which are served by a total of 32 lifts, with total capacity of 66 362 people per hour. All the ski slopes in can be covered with artificial snow by a total of 346 snow-making machines. Therefore, there is snow sure. (August 2011)

The Kronplatz itself as the main mountain of the ski area has twelve modern gondolas and five chair lifts that lead up from three sides except for the broad, tree-free at the top of knoll. A further eight gondolas and a chair lift are the two other mountains of the ski area, the Piz da Peres and Piz de Plaies. The Piz da Peres is located south in close proximity to the Kronplatz. To the southwest, the Piz de Plaies connects through a compound gondola that leads away through the village of San Vigilio. At the resort, there are still six ski lifts at smaller slopes in the vicinity of the Kronplatz, spread the Pusteria Valley, the Gsieser valley and the Antholz Valley and are not directly connected to the main area.

The Kronplatz offers five 5-7 kilometer long valley runs:

  • A 6-km long descent to St. Vigil (1070 m altitude difference).
