Krossobanen

Krossobanen is the name of a cable car in the Norwegian town of Rjukan south of the Hardangervidda National Park. The aerial tramway is the oldest cable car in northern Europe. It was built in 1928 by Adolf Bleichert & Co. of Leipzig- Gohlis and was a gift from the company Norsk Hydro Rjukan to the inhabitants, who had otherwise during the winter in the very narrow and dark Vestfjordalen no sunlight.

The base station is located at 403 m, the mountain station ( Gvepseborg ) to 886 m. The trip takes 4 ½ minutes. There is a lookout tower at the top station.
