The Krottenspitze is a 2,551 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps. He is one of the few visible in Oberstdorf rocky summit of the main ridge.

Location

With the Öfnerspitze the Krottenspitze is connected by a flat saddle. From the peak moves to the west-north -west of the jagged Krottenspitzengrat. The most striking tower in this ridge is called manifold tower. The steep north ridge forms the continuation of the main ridge towards the top corner. Northwest below the Krottenspitze and Krottenspitzengrates is the cirques of Märzle. Through this, the path leads from the hut to Kempten Prinz-Luitpold -Haus. Because of its prominent location on the north side of this Kar is often filled up in the middle of summer with Altschneeresten.

First ascent

The first ascent of the Krottenspitze probably took place during survey work in 1854. In the same year Dr. Gümbel also rose to the Krottenspitze.

Ascent

On the Krottenspitze leads no marked path. The easiest ascent via the normal route to the Öfnerspitze ( I. Difficulty ) and its northwestern flank down to the saddle ( I). From there, continue in easy climbing (I) to the top of this sure-footedness, fear of heights and climbing ability are needed.
