Krukow is a municipality in the district of Kuckssee Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg -Vorpommern.

Geography and transport

Krukow is in an era marked by the Ice Age hilly landscape. In the municipality, the bird sanctuary is located on Malliner lake. The village is located about ten kilometers south-west of Neubrandenburg and three kilometers northeast of Penzlin on the highway 192

History

The village grew out of a Slavic settlement. The place name may be derived from " Kruku " ( Raven ), meaning " Rabenort " or "place of Kruk ". Documents prove that the "Raven village" in 1170 was one of the villages of the monastery Broda. There were peasants and a village mayor. The estate was owned by the family of Kargow, of Bardenflet, von Maltzan, of Kospoth of 1775 and again the Maltzan. 1702 was a relative of Maltzan, Gustav Friedrich von Walsleben, the Lehnbesitz through the villages Krukow and Lübkow, he had to sell it again in 1725. After 1775 the estate went back to Maltzan. In 1850 the manor was built in the Neo-Gothic style.

1938 there was no more Begüterung which 713 hectares have been settled in 1933 in 29 fiefdoms. In those days, 105 inhabitants in Krukow.

On 1 January 2012, the formerly independent villages Krukow, Lapitz and Pukhov merged to community Kuckssee.
