Krumme Lanke (Berlin U-Bahn)

The underground station Krumme Lanke is a terminal station of the Berlin U -Bahn line U3. It lies parallel between the Argentine alley and the Rauweilersteig in the Berlin district of Zehlendorf district of Steglitz -Zehlendorf. His name in the station list of the BVG is K, the distance to the neighboring station Uncle Tom's Cabin is 1069 meters.

The subway station was to be called Alsenstraße originally, but was then named after a kilometer away lake Krumme Lanke. He was put into operation on 22 December 1929 as the end point of the extension line from Thielplatz.

Building and location

The platform is 8.8 meters wide, 110.5 meters long and completely covered. As incision station he is, though not in the tunnel, 3.6 meters below street level. This height difference can be overcome since 1989 accessible by an elevator.

The station building was largely demolished in 1986 and was rebuilt according to original plans under the direction of Rupert Stuhlemmer again and re-opened on 17 July 1989. Below that is a downside to track system; further sidings are at the other end of the train station. In the shed there was until 1968 a small maintenance workshop.

Planning

An extension of the line U3 to the south, in consequence of which the existing 200 meter long sweeping tracks would have to be rebuilt under the Argentine Avenue in line tracks, since the 1980s, in an interview. An implementation is uncertain until further notice due to financial reasons.

Special

A celebration of the hitherto unnamed square was named after its builder before the station Alfred Grenander On June 6, 2009 under who is also generally the early Berlin subway construction significantly shaped.

Connection

At the metro station is a transfer possibility from the U3 to the bus lines 118 and X11 by BVG, the bus line 622 of Havelbus transport company.
