Krivoy Rog (Ukrainian Кривий Ріг; Russian Кривой Рог / Krivoy Rog ) is a major city in southern Ukraine with 743,000 inhabitants ( 2013). Geographical location

The city is located in the west of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in the middle of Krywbass, probably the most important iron ore region of Eastern Europe at the confluence of Saksahan and Inhulez. History

The city was founded by Zaporozhian Cossacks as a coaching inn in the 17th century. In 1860, Krivoy Rog got the status of a city in the province of Kherson.
