Krzysztof Warzycha

Krzysztof Warzycha (Greek: Κριστόφ Βαζέχα ) ( born November 17, 1964 in Katowice, Poland ) is a former Polish football player.

Career

Warzycha began his career at the Polish club Ruch Chorzów. In 1989, after winning the Polish championship, the players changed as the reigning top scorer of his country to Panathinaikos Athens to Greece. With Panathinaikos to Warzycha fought from the beginning a regular place in the storm and was able to collect a number of national titles and awards. This includes, among others, five championships and five cup wins. During this time Warzycha rose a crowd favorite and remains to this day, even in a large proportion of supporters of other teams, one of the most popular athletes of all time in Greece.

On April 29, 2001 in a game against Ionikos Nikea, Warzycha scored his 233rd goal in the Greek Championship and joined to Mimis Papaioannou on which lay alone in second place of the goalscorers list until then. At the end of the season the player was able to look in 352 league matches on the outstanding rate of 235 hits. His career ended Warzycha with 244 gates and is thus in addition to his second place in the all-time best list of Greece acting scorer of Panathinaikos.

In addition to his successes in the Greek championship Warzycha could make even international attention. He had his best season there in 1995/96 when he scored in the UEFA Champions League in nine games six goals and managed his team to the semifinals of the competition. During his career Warzycha was also an integral part of the Polish national team, where he arrived on 50 missions and nine goals.

Given his achievements and accomplishments in Greek football was Krzysztof Warzycha, who ended his career in the summer of 2004, granted Greek citizenship in 1998.

In December 2009 he was an assistant coach at Panathinaikos Athens.
