Øksfjord

Øksfjord ( Sami: Ákšovuotna, kvenisch: Aksuvuono ) is a place in Northern Norway. He has about 500 inhabitants and is the center of the municipality Loppa in Finnmark County.

Economy

Main source of income of the inhabitants are fishing and fish processing industry.

Traffic

Øksfjord pier is the traditional postal shipping line Hurtigruten. In addition, several ferries Øksfjord run to neighboring areas, for example, to commune with their Hasvik airport.

Across the street Fv882 Øksfjord is connected to the 40 kilometers to Europe Street 6.

Attractions

  • The glacier is about 10 kilometers southwest Øksfjordjøkelen of the place. It has an area of about 43 km ² and calves directly into the Jøkelfjord in the province of Troms.
  • The road Øksfjordbotn was built in 1905 to 1910 and is still preserved in this state today.
