KTH Krynica

Polish Champion 1950

The KS KTH Krynica -Zdrój (official name: Klub Sportowy Krynickie Towarzystwo Hokejowe ) is an ice hockey club in the small Polish town of Krynica -Zdrój. The club plays in the Playoff Final, the highest Polish league, the second team is active in the second-class I league. The team carries out their home games at Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji w Krynicy - Zdroju ( Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre Krynica -Zdrój ).

History

The club was founded December 28, 1928 in Krynica. The Ice Hockey World Championship 1931 was held at the ice rink of KTH Krynica.

After the Second World War KTH Krynica was in 1950 Polish champion. After interim stay in the second-class league I took place in 2010, the rise in the Playoff Final. For the 2011/12 season the financially troubled club received a license for the Playoff Final and thus had to accept the demotion to the I league. But two years later, the team was relegated again in the Playoff Final. On 2 December 2013 the Licensing Committee of the Polish Ice Hockey Federation initiated proceedings against the club one, with the aim of license withdrawal, since payments to the association had not been done.

Furthermore, the club took part in the 1999 edition of the IIHF Continental Cup, and reached the second round at the Latvian representative HK Liepaja Metalurgs, SC Miercurea Ciuc in Romania and the league rivals Dwory SSA Unia Oświęcim. With a record of one win, one defeat and one draw, the team took second place in Group G, and thus different from the competition.
