KTorrent

KTorrent is a free, cross-platform BitTorrent client for KDE, in addition to its main function - transferring files via the BitTorrent network using the information provided by torrent files - many additional management and provides protocol functions and with a comparatively efficient and economical storage management can provide.

Features

A single-file download from BitTorrent archives, limiting the transmission rates and a distribution ratio are possible. Furthermore, protocol encryption and trackerless torrents are supported ( using distributed hash tables ).

History

Version 1.0 was released on 12 July 2005, already on 30 November version 2 was released.

Since version 2 KTorrent supports the tracker -less operation, and the first Linux client except the Java-based Azureus (now Vuze ) protocol encryption.

In version 2.1, the interface has been revised, Torrents can now be grouped in order to keep track of many events, and in the Zeroconf extension came about.

Since version 3.0, KTorrent was converted to the libraries of the KDE 4 version. Since version 3.1 it is also possible under Windows to use the software.
