Game idea

It pits two teams against each other. A team consists of at least one to a maximum of six people. The players try to each the wooden blocks ( block = Kubb ) the counterparty to overturn with throwing sticks or " cases " to. The king, who stands in the middle of the pitch, must be taken last. The first player to hit all kubbs the counterparty and the king wins the game.

The Game

Before the game begins, two teams are formed, each consisting of 1-6 people.

The traditional field size is 5 x 8 meter. This size can also be freely chosen according to abilities of the players. The surface can be staked with wood border. You can Kubb on any ground such as grass, sand, snow or solid substrates play.

The game consists of six massive throw - round wood, ten re -throwing blocks ( kubbs ) and a greater king.

The five kubbs with a few feet of each other form the baseline on each side. The "King " is in the middle of the field.

The two teams position themselves opposite each other on either side behind their baseline, which is formed by the conditions imposed kubbs ( baseline or Basiskubbs ).

A game consists of several rounds. Which team the first game round begins will be drawn. The Erstwurfsrecht per game round will then change. An alternative rule is that each team has one attempt to come as close as possible with a throwing stick to the King. The team whose throwing wood the king comes closest without him knocking down may begin.

Game History

The onset of Team A is the first of the six throwing sticks. All team members get as far as possible the same number of throwing sticks. We now try to cut down the enemy by throwing kubbs of the logs. Updates will be thrown from below. The rod is intended to fly with its longitudinal axis in direction of throw, throws and horizontal rotating casts are prohibited. The throwing sticks and possibly overturned kubbs remain there until all team members have cast their woods. After Team A has completed his throws, Team B collects all throwing sticks and overturned kubbs and is now the turn.

The fallen kubbs are now thrown by Team B in the field half of Team A. The members of Team A are the kubbs on where they have landed. However, it is up to the team members, is the direction in which the Kubb tipped for the fitting. ( If the Kubb on the center line or one of the outer lines, it must be situated so that at least half of its base projects above the line center. ) Team B has per Kubb maximum of two attempts to hit the opponent's half of the field. Lands of Kubb also the second attempt outside the opponent's half of the field, Team A may throw the Kubb themselves from the opposing baseline in their own half of the field. The Kubb however, has to comply with the king or of the vertices of at least one litter timber length distance. The posted kubbs are called Field Kubbs.

Most B team will try to throw the Field Kubbs close as possible behind the center line. This has the advantage that they are easier to hit due to the smaller distance. Also, most attempts to position the Field Kubbs as close together, so there is a chance to make the following boomerang throwing two or more kubbs at once.

After all Field Kubbs are placed, Team B throws with six throwing sticks on the kubbs in the field half of Team A. This first all Field Kubbs must be overturned. If one of the Basiskubbs falls before all Field Kubbs were like, this must be set up again. Once Team B has all Field Kubbs like, it may raise the Basiskubbs of Team A again.

Then is Team A 's turn again. Also, Team A throws first all kubbs that were overturned by Team B, into the opponent's half of the field. If it was Team B is not able to make all Field Kubbs, so Team A may now proceed with the throwing sticks to the Feldkubb in his half, which is the king the next. So this is the new Kubb throw line for this round of team A.

Gambling

Once a team has knocked down all opposing field and Basiskubbs, it must throw from the baseline to the king. If it topples the king, this team has won the game.

Throws a team to the king, before it could upset all the opposing field and Basiskubbs, so it has lost the game.

Game variations

As with almost every game there is also the Kubb a number of variants of the rules shown above. The simplest variant is a reduction of the playing field or a reduction in Basiskubbs to shorten the game a bit.

A variant refers to the placement of the Field Kubbs. This can be attempted by the party thrower, already meet previously deposited Field Kubbs. If this succeeds, the kubbs may be stacked into a tower ( one above the other ) or next to each other in series.

According to another variant precipitated Basiskubbs are taken directly from the game, so they will not be thrown back into the opponent's court. This shortens the season, while allowing Kubb newcomers, once a feel for the throw to get.

It is also possible to allow for games with adults and young children ( three to five years) the children to always throw from the center line.

To make the end of the game even more exciting, there is a variant of the obligation to meet the king with his back to the field and a through the legs pass thrown wood. Another possibility is that the king must be thrown off by right to left and from left-handed to right to win.

In Finland, a similar game called Mölkky is common with throwing sticks, which, however, " FFA " is not played as a team, but in the mode. Another variation is known in Russia under the name Gorodki.
