Kučeř

Kučeř ( German coachman, also Kutschersch ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers west of Milevsko and belongs to Okres Pisek.

Geography

Kučeř is located in the west of belonging to the Central Bohemian hills Milevská pahorkatina in the valley of the brook Kučeřský creek. To the west stretches the Orlíkstausee flooded with the Vltava. At the northwestern outskirts of the village the main road II/121 between Milevsko and Mirotice that leads south-west of Kučeř on the road bridge Zvíkovský Vltavský most of the Vltava River runs. North-east rises the Chlum (552 m) and to the east of the Karlův vrch (535 m).

History

Archaeological finds indicate a prehistoric settlement of the municipality, at the western foot of the Chlum is the Viereckschanze Obrovy Hroby.

Kučeř probably belonged since the 13th century to the possessions of the Premonstratensian Mühlhausen. The monastery was destroyed on 23 April 1420 by the Hussites, where all documents were lost. During the uprising of the Estates of 1618 Peter of Swan Mountain was one of the leaders of the insurgents. After the abolition of patrimonial Kučeř / coachman was formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Pisek and the jurisdiction Milevsko. Because of the arduous way to school by Cervena in the Vltava river, on which even fatal accidents had occurred, requested the community Kučeř 1872, the establishment of a separate school. With the beginning of the school year 1873/74 took in Kučeř a one-class village school in rented Räimlichkeiten the lessons on. Between 1876 and 1878 a schoolhouse was built. The two-class instruction was added in 1881 and the children from Květov started school the following year. As of 1919, the village belonged to Okres Milevsko. Between 1956 and 1963 by the building of the Orlik dam, with the Vltava river was flooded. In the wake of the repeal of the Okres Milevsko Kučeř was re- assigned to the Okres Pisek end of 1960. In 1964 the incorporation of Jickovice and Strážka. Later, the school was closed and relocated the lessons to Milevsko. On November 24, 1990 Jickovice and Strážka broke again from Kučeř and formed the community Jickovice.
