Kuehne Nagel

Kuehne Nagel is a global logistics and freight company based in the district of the municipality Schindellegistrasse Feusisberg in the Swiss canton of Schwyz.

History

Kuehne Nagel was founded in 1890 by August Kuehne and Friedrich Nagel in Bremen as a seaport forwarding and was anchored during the first six decades almost exclusively in the German seaports.

Alfred Kuehne initiated in the early 1950s, the internationalization of the company, a; first bases were established in Canada, then in the Benelux countries and in the Middle East.

The grandson of founder Klaus -Michael Kuehne pushed for the internationalization. The company is now active in over one hundred countries, operates 1,000 establishments with a total of about 7 million square meters of warehouse space and employs approximately 65,000 people. In Germany, Kuehne Nagel employs over 12,000 people in 101 offices.

The offer covers all services such as customary in logistics ocean freight, air freight, the European road and rail services as well as contract logistics.

Since 1994, the Kuehne Nagel International AG is listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange SIX Swiss Exchange public company and holds the world, directly or indirectly, investments in over 200 companies. The majority of these companies are Kuehne Nagel national companies and are exclusively owned by the Group.

Criticism

According to the German historian Wolfgang Dressen the transport company Kuehne Nagel has thereby benefited during the Nazi era of the " linearization programs " of the Nazis that looted Jewish property was conveyed on behalf of the Nazi state. These circumstances were obviously never worked up by the company.

Company building (selection)

Since 1910, the company had its corporate headquarters in 1944 destroyed the so-called " Kappfschen castle " at the Great Bridge Weser in Bremen. After 1958-1960 further upstream the new Big river bridge was ( Wilhelm- Kaisen -Brücke), emerged in 1962, the company was able to build a six -story building on a larger area, which was increased by three floors in the early 1970s.
