Kuhbach (Itter)

BW

The Kuhbach ( rarely also the Kuhbach ) is a 11.9 km long, left or northern tributary of Itter in Waldeck- Frankenberg in northern Hesse ( Germany ).

Course

The Kuhbach rises in the eastern foothills of the Sauerland part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains. Your source is located in the southeast part of the nature park Diemelsee about 1 km northwest of the Korbacher district Lelbach between the Real Mountain ( 573.1 m above sea level. NN ) in the north, and the Hollenberg ( 502.2 m above sea level. NN ) in the south to about 475 m above sea level. NN.

Initially, the Kuhbach flows eastward. A few hundred meters below its origin, it absorbs the water of a small creek, which rises between the Real Mountain in the west and the flat Kamp ( 571.6 m above sea level. NN ) in the east. From then flows the brook continues southeast and leaves the park. He passes through the village Lelbach northeast and flows on the panel by Waldecker Korbach. From there it flows to the south and passes under the highway 252

Finally, the Kuhbach happens Vöhler village of Upper Castle to something below it at about 330 m above sea level. NN to open into the Eder inflow Itter.

Name

The assumption that the Kuhbach was the namesake of the city Korbach may be incorrect. It is probably true rather that the name refers to Curbecci ( polling place by the stream ).

Even if the extension "Bach" could indicate that the name is masculine, so is the feminine form in Korbach usual, eg how to also be seen by the street name " at the Kuhbach ".

Watershed

The headwaters of the Kuhbach is on the Diemel-Eder/Fulda/Weser-Wasserscheide, especially since it makes the time being fluent in a southerly direction a fairly long way over the Itter, Eder and Fulda to the Weser, while the Twiste, on the eastern side of the Kamp flat springs, drained by the Diemel into the Weser.
