Kukljica

Kukljica (it. Cuclizza ) is a tourist and fishing village in the southeast of the island Ugljan in Croatia, on the neighboring island of Pasman is accessible via a bridge. The 714 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) scoring municipality is located 8 km southeast of Preko. The place is characterized by dense pine forests and has numerous sandy and rocky beaches.

Kukljica is often referred to as the " entrance of the Nature Park Telašćica and Nature Park Kornati " because it is located near the passage Zdrelac.

Tourism

The picturesque summer resort and fishing Kukljica situated in a large natural bay at the extreme southeast part of the island of Ugljan. The island of Ugljan 52 km ² and 75 km of coastline is dissected, separated by only 3 NM wide Zadar Channel from the opposite Zadar. Ugljan is connected by regular ferry lines and frequente ( Zadar and Biograd Preko - Tkon ) to the mainland by the bridge over Zdrelac channel to the island of Pasman.

Kukljica is also, as it is located near the narrow Zdrelac channel, called " the gateway to the Natural Park Telascica and the National Park Kornati islands". Kukljica is associated for generations with sea, seafaring and fishing and in recent times, it is more and more a popular destination for many tourists, especially boaters and day-trippers. The old center is separated by a natural bay where numerous fishing boats and in recent years are through the application of additional moles many sailboats, of the Zelena Punta Peninsula. A walk on the waterfront with a view of the port, fishing and sailing boats is a real treat.

In the Bay Kostanj is a valuable cultural monument: the renovated old Croatian church of St.. Jerome from the 13th century. The village also offers a unique attraction: every year, on the 5th of May, the feast of "Our Lady of the Snow ," a traditional procession, which dates from 1514. On this occasion the Madonna statue is carried on the sea routes, accompanied by countless large and small boats of the parish church of St. Paul from the 17th century to the Sanctuary of the Snow Madonna in Zdrelac channel, where according to tradition, 500 years ago, the middle of summer snow fell.

In the immediate vicinity of the village, on both sides of the island, centennial pine trees extend in the shadow of the attractive sandy beaches Sabusa, Jelenica and Kostanj.

Mild and healing Mediterranean climate where Meeresstille alternate with favorable winds. In summer mistral brings refreshment, while prevalent in winter, the northeast and south wind. The average air temperature from May to October is 22 ° C. 2500 hours of sunshine are recorded annually.
