Cultures is an open air museum in the southern Swedish city of Lund. It was founded in 1892 by Georg Fredrik Johansson Karlin ( 1859-1939 ).

Karlin recognized the disappearance of the old agrarian society and wanted to maintain their buildings, tools, furniture and clothing for the future. His work led to an extensive and unique collection of more than two million individual pieces. Cultures after the Skansen in Stockholm, founded in 1891, the second oldest open-air museum in the world. Until 1933, Karlin was the director of the museum.
