Kumlinge

Kumlinge is a municipality in the autonomous Finnish province (Finnish: Lääni ) Åland. It is located on a group of islands in the eastern part of the province between the communities in the southwest and Sottunga Brändö in the Northeast. The population lives in the four islands Kumlinge Enklinge, Seglinge and Bjorko. Kumlinge has 340 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) and an area of ​​99.77 square kilometers. As in Åland is Swedish is the official language. The Church of Kumlinge dates from the early 16th century.

Economy

The population of Kumlinge is mainly dominated by medium, many residents are in the transport and ferry business operates. In contrast, the traditional commercial agriculture and fisheries in the islands of the church today have only a minor importance. Traffic

Kumlinge is reachable by ferry from Långnäs in Lumparland Hummelvik in Vårdö and the Finnish mainland of Kustavi on Brändö. On Kumlinge is the only airport located in the Finnish archipelago.
