Kummanni
Kummanni in the middle of the second millennium BC was the capital of the Kingdom of Kizzuwatna in Southeastern Anatolia.
Location
It is probably with the later Greek Comana ( Kommana ) identical. However, there are two places of this name - Comana Pontika on the river Iris ( Gümenek ) and Comana in Cappadocia ( Kataonien ) at Saros ( Şar ). It is unclear which of the two is the older. Strabo asserts Comana Pontika was a colony of Comana in Cappadocia, while according to Procopius ( Bellum Persicum, I 17 ), both cities were founded by Orestes on the way back from Tauris in Crimea and Comana Pontika is the older one.
Comana in Cappadocia lies much closer to Cilicia and therefore is now mostly accepted as Kummanni. Julian Reade, however, wants to identify with Zāhū in Kurdistan Kummanni.
Cult
In Kummanni was particularly Hepat, adored wife of the Weather God Teššup, and her son both Šarruma.
