Kumrovec
Kumrovec is a municipality ( and also a village ) in the Croatian Krapina-Zagorje County. In 2011 the municipality had 1,588 inhabitants.
Geography
Kumrovec is situated on the Croatian-Slovenian border and is about 45 kilometers from Zagreb, capital of Croatia, removed.
History and Tourism
The village Kumrovec is known as the birthplace of Josip Broz Tito ( 1892-1980 ). Tito was a long -time president of Yugoslavia. There are two attractions: Tito's birthplace and the open air museum Etno selo - Kumrovec. Beside the house stands a bronze Tito Memorial, which was created by Antun Augustinčić. At the edge of the village stands an obelisk commemorating Antun Mihanović, the national anthem of Croatia - Our Beautiful Homeland (Croatian: Lijepa naša domovino ) - wrote in 1835.
