Kunčice (Hradec Králové District)

Kunčice ( German Kuntschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. Lies 14 kilometers west of the center of Hradec Králové and belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.

Geography

Kunčice is located on the East Bohemian panel on the left bank of the Bystřice and extends along a small tributary. North-east rises the Jehlický vrch (302 m) and in the southeast of the Kozi Kopec (286 m).

Neighboring towns are Stýskal and Nechanic in the north, and Lubno Chrást in the northeast, Hradek in the east, in the southeast Radostov, Homyle and Boharyně in the south, Malé Babice in the southwest, and Zvíkov Budín in the west and Kobylice in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Kunčice took place in 1382. During the 15th century, was located at the Bystřice a wooden parties. As the owner of the festivals which was later replaced by a stone building with a farmyard, include Olfart Kunčice, Jiří Haler Kunčice and Jan Gbela narrated by Kunčice. After the village had been struck at the beginning of the 16th century under the Pecingar of Bydžín the reign Nechanic, the festivals fell desolate. In 1721 was built on the foundation walls of the fortress a single storey baroque palaces. After the Thirty Years War, the Count Schaffgotsch acquired the rule. Then dissolved from 1771 many nobles as the owner from. 1832 Joseph sold Girtel of clover Born Kunčice together with Trnava and Hradek to the Counts Harrach, joined the new ownership their goods in Sadová. This went out of the mansion in Kunčice. In 1850 sold the Count Harrach, the castle and the estate Betlach. After the abolition of patrimonial Kunčice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Hradec Kralove. 1905 bought by the Count Harrach on the Prague Exhibition excellent with a gold medal pavilion and let this transpose in his Tiergarten between Kunčice and Hradek Castle. The pavilion has been availed by the Harrach for hunting events and as a resting place. After the takeover by the Communists in 1948, the expropriation of the Harrach family. In 1949, the rearrangement of the congregation to Okres Hradec Králové - okolí. The Good Betlachův and the palaces were the seat of an agricultural cooperative and degenerated. The pavilion served from 1948 to 1962 as a residential building. It was then used by the Czechoslovak army as meteorological observatory and demolished in 1969. Since 1961 Kunčice heard again Okres Hradec Králové. The village was established in 1964, a cultural center, which is also the seat of the commune office. Between 1968 and 1970 originated in the lower village at the Bystřice an outdoor pool, which became known for his summer nightclubs notoriety. 1996, it was closed and is now used as a fish pond.

Personalities

The mayor Petr Smetana, who exercised his office in Kunčice in the 17th century, is the oldest known ancestor of the composer Bedřich Smetana. After the end of the 19th century, an artist circle around the poet Josef Štolba and Jaroslav Vrchlický had arisen in Nechanic, they stayed in Kunčice. The painter Antonín Chittussi created a painting of the pond Kunčický fishpond.
