Kup, Hungary
Kup is a municipality in the small area Papa, situated in the County of Veszprém in western Hungary. The population is about 460 (as of 2010 ), the area of 24.78 km ².
Location
The community lies on the edge of Bakony. Due to the location of the river Bittva, which flows into the Marcal flows. In the surroundings villages Nóráp, Pápakovácsi, Pápasalamon, Bakonypölöske, Dáka, Ganna and Döbrönte lie. The town Papa is 11 km away.
History
Archaeological finds show that already lived in the Neolithic people in this area. The place itself was mentioned in writing in a document for the first time in 1240.
Infrastructure
There is a post office, kindergarten, library, mayor's office, doctor's office, a cultural center as well as a reformed and a Roman Catholic church on site. Economically, the community is dominated by agriculture, livestock and viticulture. Since 1968 there is a Alumínium and iron foundry.
