Kupfer (river)

The Black bridge crosses the copper just before Forchtenberg.

The copper is a left tributary of the digester in northeastern Baden- Württemberg of 25.6 km in length, which leads into Forchtenberg from left and southeast into the cooker.

History and Description

The copper produced at the southeast edge of Remaining Hausen next to the Seeholzweg on the edge of a small copse and runs the first one and a half kilometers south-west, and then turn to the right and the rest of the first third of its course to flow to the copper cell in a northerly direction before the step edge of the forest Burger mountains. Until then their valley is quite flat and wide trough in the Lettenkeuper Pad (Erfurt Formation) of Hohenlohe plain with straightened river bed, on the flat side hills often lined by vast arable land. Behind copper cell the stream bed reaches the limestone and the stream flows in a northwesterly direction further, deepened a steep and runs through a narrow and natural state Meander. More and more covered this forest the side slopes, from Neufels often bottomed out. In Forchtenberg, now in the Lower Muschelkalk constantly and about 140 m below the rim heights, it flows from the left in the kettle.

Catchment area

The catchment area covers 72.6 km ², which lie mostly on the Hohenlohe plain. Apart from the first 3 km in the district of Schwäbisch Hall, the copper runs entirely in the Hohenlohe district.

Nature

In the course of land consolidation process in Westernach and the construction of the motorway A 6, the copper from the source was straightened to copper cell. The surrounding agricultural land has been drained and so made available to the water top.

Designation

Since copper-bearing deposits occur in the valley of the river, this has already been suggested as a reason his appointment. South of Bauer Bach was mined in the 19th century Vitriolerz. That the name of the copper went back to such occurrences, however, is questionable.
