Kurganinsk
Kurganinsk (Russian Курганинск ) is a city in Krasnodar (Russia) region with 47,970 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the northern Caucasus foothills about 130 km east of the regional capital of Krasnodar near the right bank of the Laba, a left tributary of the Kuban. The Laba here forms the border with the autonomous Republic of Adygea.
Kurganinsk is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.
The city lies on the opened on this section 1910 railway Armavir - Tuapse, from which branches off a side road about Labinsk after Schedok or Psebai here. The station of the city is called Kurgannaja.
History
The town was founded in 1853 by Cuba Cossacks as Staniza Kurgannaja. The term refers to the larger number of kurgans in the area.
In 1961, the city charter was granted under the present name.
In June 2002 Kurganinsk was pulled from a serious flood affected, in which 800 houses were destroyed 4,500 damaged.

Culture and sights
In Kurganinsk the Assumption Church ( Вознесенская церковь / Wosnessenskaja Tserkov ) is obtained from 1906 to 1916. The city has a municipal museum and art gallery.
Economy
The economy of Kurganinsk as the center of an agricultural area of the food industry is influenced ( among other sugar factory, cannery, dairy giant ).
