Kurilian Bobtail
The Kuril Bobtail is a cat of Russian origin.
History
The Kuril Bobtail can be detected for about 200 years on the island of Sakhalin and the Kurile Islands. Middle of the 20th century, it was brought by Russian military and scientists in the European part of the Soviet Union and then the international cat world knowledge.
Appearance
The Kuril Bobtail is a strong cat with a wild look. It is medium to large, stocky, heavily boned. The back is slightly arched. The legs are strong, longer at the back than the front. The paws are round. The tail is kinked or bent with one or more nodes. Its length is 3-8 cm ( Brachyury ). He is longer haired than the rest of the body ( pom-pom ).
The head is large, designed as a trapezoid with rounded contours. The profile is slightly concave. The cheekbones are wide. The muzzle is of medium length and width. The chin is well developed.
The ears are large, broad, raised and tilted forward. The distance between the ears is about an ear width. The ear tips are rounded.
The eyes are round, wide and slightly sloping.
The coat is of medium length in the semi- longhaired variants with a lot of top coat and little undercoat. Neck and chest ruff, trousers, ear tufts and ear tufts are desirable.
The colors chocolate, cinnamon, lilac and fawn are not recognized as points. All other colors are recognized in conjunction with all pattern variants.
Errors are:
- Tail length between 8 and 12cm or shorter than 3cm.
- Only one caudal vertebrae (so-called "delayed Bobtail effect" ).
- Among arched back.
In the following exhibitions will lead to disqualification:
- Lack of tail vertebrae.
- Short, not (! ) Bent or curved tail.
- Tail length of about 12cm.
Nature
Despite their wild appearance, she is a mild-mannered cat. She loves her people and requires a lot of attention. She is very active.
Genetics
The genetics of tail mutation is described as incomplete dominant. Thus, the different tail lengths are explained. A lethal defect as in the Manx should not be associated with it. So Kuril Bobtail can easily be paired with each other. Therefore, outcrossing are not allowed.
