Kuristiku

Kuristiku ( German for " cleft of the rock " ) is a district (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It is located in Lasnamäe district ( German " Laaksberg ").

Description

The municipality has 11,024 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010). It is located on the northern edge of the limestone plateau Lasnamäe.

The district was built on the site of the former village Kuristiku. The town is now dominated by prefab high-rise buildings in the Soviet style, which were crushed in the 1970s and 1980s from the ground. The majority of the population is Russian-speaking, as in all Lasnamäe.
