Kurt Axelsson

Kurt Axelsson ( born November 10, 1941 in Rännberg, Sweden, † 15 December 1984) was a Swedish football player.

Career

Axelsson debuted in 1964 for GAIS Gothenburg in Allsvenskan. Despite the decline at the end of the season the defender remained loyal to the club and was able to create as a mainstay of the team its chances of promotion. After one and a half more seasons in the Swedish first division, he joined in the summer of 1967 to Belgium for Club Brugge. Here he belonged at first to the service providers and led the club in 1973 to the second championship in club history. However, he left the club after six seasons and moved to second division club AS Ostend, with which he managed the climb in his first season in the makings. After end of his career he went to KV Kortrijk as assistant coach.

Axelsson played 30 internationals for Sweden. He participated with the state selection at the 1970 World Cup, nearly failed in Sweden in the group stage. He stood in all three matches on the court.

Axelsson died in 1984 in a traffic accident.
