Kurt Elimä

Kurt Sigvard Elimä ( born August 24, 1939 in Narken, former municipality Korpilombolo ) is a former Swedish ski jumper and today's ski jumping coach.

Career

Elimä grew up as the second oldest of twelve siblings and son of Lorenz Elimä, who built up the hill in Malmberget, and began ski jumping at Koskullskulle AIF. In 1963, he won his first Swedish championship title. In the Four Hills Tournament 1963/64, he surprisingly managed by the 58th place in Oberstdorf a sixth place at the New Year 's event in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck Elimä reached on the normal hill seventh place and jumped on the large hill on points with Americans David Hicks on the 29th place. In the same year he won his second Swedish league title. Also in 1965, he could win the championship. In the Four Hills Tournament 1965/66 he was able to achieve in Bischofshofen with fourth place his best tour - single result. In 1967 he won after a year again the Swedish Championship. At the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble, he jumped on the normal hill and the large hill on the 37th place. In the same year he won again the Swedish championship title.

In 1969 he was awarded for his services the price Stor Grabb. After his playing career began as a ski Elimä coach and coached among others January Boklöv.
