Kurt Overhoff

Over Kurt Hoff (born 20 October 1902 in Vienna, † November 16, 1986 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian conductor, composer and music teacher.

Life

Over Kurt Hoff was in the years 1928/29, an assistant of Wilhelm Furtwängler. From 1932 to 1940 he was music director in Heidelberg. He had, he was responsible from 1940 close contacts with the descendants of Richard Wagner for the musical education of Wieland Wagner. In the years 1947 to 1950 he was involved in the construction of the Bayreuth Symphony Orchestra.

After a long stay in the United States, he was from 1962 to 1973 professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
