Kurt Sauer

Kurt Sauer ( born January 16, 1981 in St. Cloud, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things, for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Colorado Avalanche and Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League. Since October 2009, the Americans, which has not yet officially ended his career, has not played an NHL game more.

Career

Kurt Sauer began his career as a hockey player with the North Iowa Huskies, where he was active in the United States Hockey League in the 1998/99 season. Then the defender played for three years for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League. During this time, the Americans were selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the third round than a total of 88 players from the Colorado Avalanche, but did not receive him in the next two years under contract, so sour in the summer of 2002 a contract as Free Agent at the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim received.

The Mighty Ducks Sauer reached in his rookie season in the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs, the same in which he lost his team the New Jersey Devils in the best- of-seven series with 3:4 victories. Although Sauer in the one and a half years in Anaheim has always been a regular player, Californians gave him in February 2004, together with a draft pick to the Colorado Avalanche from, for which he played the next four years. Colorado had given in return Martin Škoula to Anaheim.

As of summer 2008, Sauer was at the Phoenix Coyotes under contract. After he still regularly came into use in his first season, the Americans played in the season 2009/10 due to injury, only one NHL game. Then put the defenders for the following two seasons from the game.
