Kurt Seibt

Kurt Seibt ( born February 13, 1908 in Berlin, † 21 June 2002 Zeuthen ) was a German politician ( KPD / SED). He was chairman of the Central Auditing Commission of the SED and Minister for guidance and control of the district and county councils of the GDR.

Life

Education and work

Seibt came from a working class family. After attending primary school, he completed three semesters of evening the College for civil engineering and made from 1922 to 1926 trained as a metal presser in Berlin- Oberschoeneweide. From 1926 to 1933 he worked as a civil engineering workers and pavers.

Youth functionary

He joined in 1922 the Socialist Workers Youth, 1924 the Communist Youth League of Germany ( KJVD ) and the German Metalworkers' Federation ( DMV) at. From 1924 to 1926 he was a youth leader in the industry DMV Berlin, 1927-1930 First Secretary of the KJVD sub-district Berlin- Kreuzberg, 1930-1931 national youth leader of the Red Sport Brandenburg Unit and member of the KJVD district headquarters.

Party official, resistance and adhesion

Since 1932 member of the German Communist Party and its district headquarters in Berlin -Brandenburg. From 1934 to 1939 he was a stagehand and stage- at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and a member of the illegal party leadership of the KPD in Berlin- Bohnsdorf headed by Willi Gall. On December 8, 1939 he was arrested and sentenced in 1941 by the People's Court for "undermining the German armed force and conspiracy to commit high treason" to life imprisonment. Until 1945 he was a prisoner in the penitentiary Brandenburg -Gorden.

Politicians in the GDR

1945/1946 was Seibt first secretary of the district leadership and member of the Land Brandenburg Brandenburg line of the Communist Party, as well as chairman of the National Organization Office of Consumer Cooperatives. From 1946 to 1952 he was secretary of the SED - country line Brandenburg, 1946-1948 Chairman of the Consumer Association of Brandenburg. From 1947 to 1952, Seibt member of the Brandenburg state parliament, where from 1950 to 1952 leader of the SED. From 1952 to 1964 he was interrupted by a study at the Party School of the Communist Party in Moscow ( 1956/1957 ), First Secretary of the SED district leadership Potsdam. He was also a candidate since 1950, from 1954 to 1989, member of the Central Committee of the SED. He was from 1953 to 1989 deputy of the People's Chamber and 1954-1963 and Chairman of its Audit Committee election.

From June 1964 to December 1965 Seibt was minister for guidance and control of the district and county councils and a member of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers, 1966/1967 briefly secretary of the Committee of Antifascist Resistance Fighters. From 1967 to 1989 he was the successor of Fritz Gaebler Chairman of the Central Auditing Commission of the SED and from 1976 to 1989 at the same time also the chairman of the Solidarity Committee of the GDR.
