Kurtis Blow

Kurtis Blow ( Kurtis Walker actually ) ( born August 9, 1959 in Harlem ) is a pioneer of rap, which significantly coined in the early days. His first and most famous hit was The Breaks (1980) and is recognized as classics of hip hop. One of his most successful songs was basketball, a coproduction with Full Force from Brooklyn. His music was influenced by DJ Hollywood. In Blows album Kingdom Blow from 1986 can be heard Bob Dylan.

Life

Kurtis Blow began his career in the mid 1970s in New York as a break dancer before he came to rap about DJing. He was the first rapper who recorded an entire album with a larger record company (1980). This happened after recording his first single Christmas Rappin - about the same time as the Sugarhill Gang with Rapper's Delight landed the first hit of hip- hop. At this time, this style of music was ridiculed as a temporary phenomenon, and there was great resistance to take blow under contract.

In 1983 he was producer of Run DMC and the Fat Boys. In 1986, he landed with 'm Chillin his last chart hit.
