Kurtis Foster

Kurtis Foster ( * November 24, 1981 in Carp, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Kontinental Hockey League since July 2013.

Career

Kurtis Foster began his career as a hockey player with the Peterborough Petes, for which he was active from 1997 to 2001 in the Ontario Hockey League. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the second round than a total of 40 players from the Calgary Flames. The Flames gave him before they took him under contract in December 2001 to the Atlanta Thrashers from, for their farm team in the American Hockey League, he played mainly in the following three years. Between 2002 and 2004 he played only five games for Atlanta in the National Hockey League. On 26 June 2004, the defender was given in exchange for Niclas Hävelid to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, but he came due to the lockout in the 2004/ 05 NHL season only to inserts in their AHL farm team, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.

On August 4, 2005 Foster was awarded as a free agent contract with the Minnesota Wild, where he has played ever since, just as for their AHL farm team, the Houston Aeros. In the season 2007/ 08 Foster caused a stir in a negative way, when he was promoted in March 2008 of an accidental collision with opponent Torrey Mitchell of the San Jose Sharks at high speeds so unhappy in the band, that he broke his femur. The NHL has therefore altered during the summer break the rules to such situations - physical contact in the area behind the goal with shots from distance with unauthorized Touch Icing - to avoid in the future. It took almost a year to the defender on 9 February 2009 at the jersey of the Houston Aeros celebrated its comeback. On 1 July 2010 he signed a temporary two -year contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

On 1 July 2011, the Oilers him transferred in exchange for Andy Sutton to the Anaheim Ducks. In his first NHL insert for Californians on 23 October 2011, the defender immediately scored one goal in the 4:5 loss against the Phoenix Coyotes. On December 12, 2011, he was finally transferred together with the German goalkeeper Timo Pielmeier in exchange for Rod Pelley, Mark Fraser and a seventh- round choice of law in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the New Jersey Devils.

Shortly before the trade deadline, on 24 February 2012, Foster returned to Minnesota, since it the New Jersey Devils along with Nick Palmieri, Stephane Veilleux, a second-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 and a performance-based third-round vote in the NHL Entry 2013 Draft charges to the Minnesota Wild to undertake Marek Židlický. After completion of the NHL lockout in January 2013, the defenders of the Philadelphia Flyers was signed.

In July 2013 Foster was awarded a contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Kontinental Hockey League.
