Kurucaşile ( in ancient Kromna ) is a town and a district of the Turkish province Bartın in the Black Sea region. The town has 1712 inhabitants and is located Kurucaşile right on the coast of the Black Sea. The county Kurucaşile with 7657 inhabitants and an area of 167 km ², lies in the east of the province, bordering Kastamonu. The city's history dates back several millennia. As Kromna she was a part of Paphlagonia.

After the founding of Turkey 1923 Kurucaşile was until 1957 part of the district Bartın. From 1957 to 1991 Kurucaşile was a district of Zonguldak Province. Since 1991 it belongs to the newly created province Bartın.
