The Kusaal (also Kusale, Kusasi and Burkina Faso Koussassé ) is the language of West African Kusaal - people, which is spoken by about 420,000 speakers in Ghana (2004 SIL ), including the 350,000 speakers of Angole and 70,000 speakers of Toende.

The language area is found in the north-eastern corner of Ghana in the Bawku District. Kusaal is also in Burkina Faso spoken by about 17,000 people. As a distribution area, the provinces and Nahouri Boulgou as well as some villages are south of Zabre in the central south of the country.

As Angole dialects (East Kusaal ) and Toende (West Kusaal ) apply. Further investigations on the Kusaal group in Burkina Faso are still pending. Presumably there is a certain similarity to Angole (East Kusaal ). Many speakers claim to understand the related languages Mòoré, Dagbani, Mampruli (language) and Farefare ( Gurenne ). Kusaal is part of Mòoré - Dagbani group.
