Kutz
Kutz is a family name.
Origin
According to Hans Bahlow the name Kutz comes from the Slavic place names such as Kuhz / Prenzlau. On the Book of Family Names Kutz is first interpreted as shorthand for Slavic nickname Konrad. Again, a derivative of Polish Kuc = turf or clod of earth as well as a derivative of the nickname of the Middle High German küz (e) = codger or dialectal Kutze = coarse robe is called. Josef Karl Mann Brechenmacher confirms the different origin of the name. 1332 writes a Wetzlar citizens: "Ego Conradus dictus Kutz de Langengunse ". The last name Kutz is also found frequently in Jewish families. In this case, it is a variation of the very frequently occurring name Katz, who is written in the Hebrew כץ ( kz ) and therefore allows for both variants (including the spelling ' Kuz ').
