Kuzey Güney is a Turkish drama series that airs on the channel D private stations since 7 September 2011. The series is loosely based on Irwin Shaw's novel Rich man, Poor man ( German title: All wealth of this world ) of 1982 and Orhan Pamuk's novel, Mr. Cevdet and his sons. The series name is derived from the first names of the two brothers Kuzey ( Kıvanç Tatlitug ) and Güney ( Buğra Gülsoy ) from and is also a metaphor for the contrast between the two. Kuzey Güney and Turkish are the terms for north and south.
Action
Kuzey is the younger of the two brothers; he is rebellious, full of principles and fearless. Against any kind of injustice he replies with his fists and brings thus partly in trouble.
Güney is Kuzeys older brother and a counterpoint to Kuzey: He is calm, patient, never act without thinking about the consequences and is a very ambitious, intelligent young man.
The only commonality shared by the two brothers together is their love for Cemre ( Öykü Karayel ).
