The Kuznetsk Alatau (Russian Кузнецкий Алатау; Kyrgyz: Alatau = "colorful mountain ") is a to 2211.3 m high mountains in southern Russia, Asia.

Geographical location

The mountain, which is one of the South Siberian mountains going north gradually in the West Siberian Plain and on the east it drops to the valley of Jenisseis with the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir this river lying. To the south it goes over the valley of the Abakan over in the Sayan Mountains ( Westsajan ) and westerly directions, it drops to the valley of the toms. The mountain range is about 300 km long.

Highest mountain

The highest mountain of the Kuznetsk Alatau is 2211.3 m with a nameless summit, a few kilometers north-east of that part be the highest elevation, to the main ridge belonging and 2178 m high Werchni Sub lies between Meschduretschensk in West southwest and Sorsk in east-northeast. In the area of both the mountains Charatas arises as a flowing predominantly to the north north-east tributary of the White Ijus.
