KV Kortrijk

The KV Kortrijk ( Kortrijk Koninklijke Voetbalclub, German: "Royal Club Kortrijk " ) is a Belgian football club from Kortrijk (French: Courtrai ). The club was formed in 1971 through a merger of the clubs SC Courtraisien and Stade Kortrijk. The first team currently plays (as of August 2008) in the Belgian first division. Already 1976-1979, 1980-1992 and again in the 1998/1999 season the team was top notch.

History

The SC Courtraisien was founded in 1901; 1906 to 1911 he played in the highest Belgian league. In 1927 the club was called Royal Courtrai Sports ( after merger with FC Courtraisien ), from 1951, he officially received the name Dutch Koninklijke Kortrijk Sport.

Stade Kortrijk was built in 1923 from the two clubs Eendracht Kortrijk and Patronaat Sint- Rochus.

On May 6, 1971, the merger of the two clubs was completed; Club colors as the city of Kortrijk colors were selected, red and white. Only five years later, the new club from the fourth division had risen in the First Division.

The team wears their home games at 9,399 visitors comprehensive Kortrijk Guldensporenstadion. Trainer is Vanhaezebrouck Hein, President Joseph Allijns (August 2008).

Major players of KV Kortrijk were Émile and his brother Mbo Mpenza, Hendrik Krüzen, Stefan Leleu, Aurelio Vidmar and Salou Ibrahim.
